unRUT yourself · a working model

The same four corners.
Three different paths.

Be Sober. Be Fit. Be Brave. Persist. Four noble commands. Whether they carry you down, around, or up depends on what is underneath them.

Scroll slowly ↓

The Square

Live Off Of Performance.

The LOOP. Four behavioral commands run like bases, lap after lap. It works. It got me into remission. And every lap quietly collects a toll:

  • Be Sober: ignore the signs, end up coping anyway.
  • Be Fit: override with strict discipline, not systems. Miss one and you’re done.
  • Be Brave: fail with shame, and the narrative starts: I knew I wasn’t good enough.
  • Persist: exhaust yourself into I’m just broken.

And connection holds still: you don’t meet new people, you don’t lose or gain connections. You know who you know, and that’s that.

The Funnel

Repetitive Unconscious Trauma.

The RUT. Each lap the walls notch closer, the laps get faster, and the corners round off. Structure erodes into a drain.

  • Cope: tolerance to the relief keeps growing.
  • Avoid: the world shrinks: stiffness, pain, aging.
  • Repress: hope and will drain out.
  • Collapse: surrender, but only when nothing works anymore.

And the RUT isolates you, slowly at first, sometimes rapidly at the end, until you are not just by yourself. You feel alone.

The Singularity

You cannot see up from here.

When no level of coping can relieve the pain, when tolerance leads to dangerous behaviors, when isolation and avoidance shrink your experience so small that everything is lost, even hope, life collapses. Intervention, human or divine, meets you at rock bottom, and the reset is the only option, because there is no working back from here. Removal from the environment, treatment, rehabilitation: reserved for those who thankfully survive.

What reaches you here is not a technique. It is connection, human or divine.

Hope can be restored, but everything must change. There is another way.

The Practices

Breathe. Move. Meditate. Connect.

Flat ground again, standing at home plate. And this time the square has something it never had before: alternatives that intervene where coping could only relieve.

Self-regulation practice starts with awareness, radical honesty, and an intelligent system for life and living. Personal priorities are established and agreements are made, and those decisions are what let the moment of choice fall naturally into alignment.

The toolkit began as a triangle. It grew its fourth point the moment the bottom taught what actually reaches a person there. Now each point aims at the base it serves.

First base · Regulate

Sobriety becomes a side effect.

The urge to cope is an urge for relief. This is where the substance or behavior is craved. With Regulate you don’t white-knuckle with abstinence, you introduce self-regulation. Breathe.

If the desire to cope still exists you aren’t forced to stop. You make the unconscious conscious with awareness, you offer the sustainable alternative first, and over time the coping substance or behavior becomes dysregulating, too intense, and in some cases disgusting. Sobriety becomes the side effect of self-regulation, and clarity is embodied.

Second base · Adapt

Fitness becomes a side effect.

The clarity from regulation opens fitness into every dimension: physical, mental, emotional, psychological, spiritual. Move.

Walking, time in nature, sunrise and sunset, stretching, connecting with the body. Begin to feel and find your limits in every dimension from a place of love and trust instead of vanity and protocol. Fitness becomes the side effect, and it builds embodied confidence.

Third base · Transmute

Fear becomes courage potential.

When you encounter fear with embodied clarity and confidence, you can shift perspective and recognize the courage potential in it. Feel the fear and proceed: the outcome is no longer the determining success factor. Success is achieved through presence. Meditate.

Meditation lets you mentally rehearse possibility and prime the experience neurologically. The timeless gap between stimulus and response that meditation develops gives you the chance to reframe in real time. The goal isn’t to become fearless. It’s to feel the fear and move that energy up to courage by being brave.

Home · Evolve

The base grows a tip.

The urge that carried you around the bases comes home to the practice the bottom taught: Connect. Genuine human connection, animals, time in nature, the divine. Identity is partly held by the people around us, and evolving means letting connection hold a new you.

As these moments repeat and the new days come, you develop a subconscious, automatic self-regulation response to stress. The substance and behavior around the coping dissolve. Multidimensional fitness becomes presence-based ritual instead of a performance-based box to check. Beliefs are challenged and changed through your own awareness.

The pyramid’s tip is revealed: NetZero. And it rises, pushing the ceiling up with it, its base spreading to meet the foundation the moment the cube is formed.

The Cube

Expanded experience.

As your reality grows and expands, the boundaries of your beliefs are renegotiated. When distress is no longer a burden to be carried, your life becomes regenerative. You experience an energy greater than the sum of its parts. Your entire experience grows.

The Wider Lap

Restored agency. Reclaimed free will.

The track extends past every base it used to be bound by, and the triangle rises again to hold up the next ceiling:

  • Past first: new environments, sports, physical abilities, relationships.
  • Past second: new skills, new opportunities, new visions and goals.
  • Rounding third for home: a new identity.

Home, again

New identity. New life. New you.

Not because this was better. Not because what you had was bad. Because curiosity and variety fuel evolution.

One breath, one movement, one connection, one moment at a time.

Not a larger cube. The same points, curved into a sphere, with the singularity kept lit at its centre.
